CATURRA

Tall variety that combines high yields and good cup quality. Variety found in Minas Gerais, Brazil, possibly originated as a mutation of a dominant Bourbon coffee gene. The Caturra is characterized by being short, it has short internodes, a thick and slightly branched trunk, and abundant, short lateral branches, with secondary branching, which gives the plant a vigorous and compact appearance.

 

This variety has the following characteristics:

  • Plant size: low / compact.
  • Grain size: average.
  • Quality potential in cup: good.
  • Coffee rust: susceptible.
  • Harvest yield: good.
  • Years for the first harvest: 3 years.
