CATUAÍ
The Catuaí variety is a hybrid originating in Brazil, resulting from the cross between the Mondo Novo and Caturra varieties. It is very productive and its cherries stay on the plant for a long time without falling to the ground, which makes it very popular with coffee growers in valleys or windy slopes. It is present, to a greater or lesser extent, in all the coffee-growing countries of Central and South America. Depending on the color of its fruits, the Catuaí can be red or yellow. Both stand out for their great acidity.
This variety has the following characteristics:
- Plant size: low / compact.
- Grain size: average.
- Quality potential in cup: good.
- Coffee rust: susceptible.
- Harvest yield: good.
- Years for the first harvest: 3 years.
